Uncle Tom's Cabin - Harriet Beecher Stowe This book was amazing. It wasn't at all the stuffy, difficult read I was expecting. Despite the length of the book, I blazed through it, reading in all my spare time over a period of about 5 days or so. There were parts that were horrifying, and tragic and terrifying, but also moments of hope and courage and people living their lives the best way they were able in the circumstances they were in. I can see why it was such a sensation when it was published and made such waves in peoples' beliefs regarding slavery. Highly recommended!
